The FXSSI calendar MT5 indicator shows the date and time, country and importance of macroeconomic news releases within the price chart.  Since, it stays always visibly on the chart without the need to visit external websites traders can be aware of the time of potential price volatility.  As a result, the indicator helps traders decide either to hold on existing open positions, close them or hedge them to accommodate market volatility.

Features of FXSSI Calendar MT5 Indicator

The indicator draws vertical lines at the time of a news release with stars to highlight the importance of news. The star ratings are from 1 to 3 with 3 being high importance news.

For additional information, a left click on the news opens an info panel. The panel opens in the right chart corner to display stars, date and time, country and the name of the news release. If there are multiple news releases at any particular time, the indicator lists all of them. Moreover, traders can go through previous and future news releases by clicking on the arrows below the panel.

The indicator uses forexfactory as primary source and investing.com as secondary source for news. This enables smooth functioning of the indicator without freezing the trading platform. Traders should note that this indicator does not provide published news data. But only provides the date and time of news releases.

Benefits of FXSSI Calendar MT5 Indicator

Economic news releases are a boon and curse for many forex traders. The spike in price volatility may be rewarding or destructing. However, this indicator helps traders to prepare well in advance and embrace the market volatility. That said, it is better to stay clear of the markets 10 minutes before and 15 minutes after major economic news releases.

Unlike most of other news indicators that display all the news info on the price chart. This indicator provides a non intrusive approach with clean vertical lines and an info panel in the right chart corner.

The simplicity of three stars to imply the importance and the possibility of increased price volatility helps traders to focus on volatility. Though the indicator plots vertical lines to indicate a news release it also provides alerts or warning in advance of the news release.

Indicator Settings Description

Filter News by Currencies:, Defined Currencies:, Filter By Volatility: Options to choose the currency pairs using volatility, currency pairs or all symbols.

Hours Ahead:, Hours Behind: The period for which economic news release will be displayed. However a maximum of a week’s data will be available.

Update Interval: Choose from 5 minutes to 60 minutes for update.

Server Time Offset: Set offset to auto or chooses a value.

Show till TimeFrame: Traders can choose from M5 to H4. Maximum chart time frame for news release display.

Display Symbol Names:, Text Position:, Text Size: Display symbols and text options.

Show tooltips: Shows additional information of importance, name and time of news.

Indicator Position:, Horizontal Offset:, Vertical Offset: Adjust indicator panel location.

Color Scheme: Color options.

Alert Method:, Notify Before N Minutes:, Sound File: Alert settings.

How to Install

How install MT4/5 indicator in the terminal?

To install an MT4/5 indicator in the terminal, follow these steps:

  1. Download the indicator file (.ex4 or .mq4/.ex5 or .mq5) to your computer.

  2. Open the MT4/5 terminal and click on “File” in the top left corner.

  3. Select “Open Data Folder” from the dropdown menu.

  4. In the window that opens, double-click on the “MQL4/5” folder.

  5. Double-click on the “Indicators” folder.

  6. Drag and drop the indicator file from your computer into the “Indicators” folder.

  7. Close the data folder window and restart the MT4/5 terminal.

  8. The indicator should now be available in the “Navigator” window on the left-hand side of the terminal. Simply double-click on the indicator to add it to a chart.

Note: If the indicator is in a .zip file, you will need to extract it first before following the above steps.

And if asks to confirm DLL?

If the indicator you are installing requires access to external Dynamic Link Libraries (DLLs), you may see a pop-up message asking you to confirm the use of DLLs.

DLLs are external libraries that contain code that can be used by other programs. In the case of MT4/5 indicators, they are often used to perform complex calculations or connect to external data sources.

If you trust the source of the indicator and want to use it, click “Yes” to confirm the use of DLLs. If you are not sure or do not trust the source, click “No” to cancel the installation.

It’s worth noting that some indicators may not work properly without access to their required DLLs. If you choose not to allow access to DLLs and the indicator does not work as expected, you may need to reinstall the indicator and confirm the use of DLLs to get it to work properly.
